Benefits of Wearing Compression Socks While Teaching
There is a reason why doctors and nurses wear compression socks under their scrubs. They are on their feet all day long…just like teachers. The only time I sit down during my workday is for about 20 minutes during lunch and during my prep if I am sitting at my computer working on curriculum, grades, or emails.
I don’t know of many teachers that wear compression socks to work, but we need to get the word out. There are so many great benefits to wearing compression socks such as boosting circulation, lowering swelling, improving and strengthening your veins, aiding in lymphatic drainage, keeping you from being lightheaded when you stand up, and the list goes on.
Compression socks are great to wear on the plane during long haul flights and while working out, but you shouldn’t wear compression socks when you go to sleep at night. I’ve also noticed that my legs and feet do not hurt at the end of a long day of teaching when I wear compression socks.
When picking out compression socks, be sure to find pairs that fit you properly. I like the compression socks that I have bought from Amazon and from Figs. I don’t buy the medical looking ones though. That would just be weird.
