Easy Ways to Boost your Class Decor Using a Cricut Explore Air
The beginning of the new school year is quickly approaching, and it is time to bust out our Cricut Explore Air to take your classroom decor to the next level.
So what is a Cricut anyways?
The Cricut is an electronic cutting machine that can cut all sorts of designs from materials like paper, vinyl, card stock, and iron-on transfers. Some pricier versions of the Cricut can even cut leather and wood. That is not all. Many Cricut machines can also draw and write your designs onto card stock or paper.
What can you make with it?
Really the question should be…what can you NOT make with the Cricut. The Cricut is a teacher’s dream come true. You can make greeting cards, vinyl stickers (more on that in a second), trendy teacher t-shirts, intricate paper crafts like paper flowers, wood signs, and reusable stencils.
How to utilize the Cricut in the classroom:
When it comes to utilizing the Cricut in the classroom, the sky is the limit! We love using the Cricut to create vinyl sticker labels for our whiteboards. We no longer have to write out the headings for our agenda or homework, because we now have a permanent vinyl sticker in its place. It makes our whiteboard look so clean and polished. The best part is that we don’t have to worry about sloppy penmanship.
We also love using the Cricut to create fabulous room decor. You can take ordinary wood stools and print out a fun and inspiring message to place on the top. We also love to find little frames or items in the target dollar spot and add inspiring messages to them.
If you teach only one set of students, you can use removable vinyl to create desk labels for all of your students. Many teachers have also added multiplication tables, the alphabet, or other fun quotes directly onto their students’ desks.
One thing that has really made a powerful impact in our classrooms and for our students is our door decor. Our doors are one of the very first things students see as they walk into our classrooms and the last thing they see as they leave. We both have used the Cricut to create an inspiring message to place on our door for students to read as they enter our room.
Seems kinda pricey…
While the initial investment for the Cricut was a a bit much, we made the purchase as a team, so each of us only had to invest a small amount to buy the Cricut Explore Air 2. Also, we waited until the unit went on sale during Black Friday and we purchased it as a bundle with a bunch of other products, like the cutting mats, Cricut tools, and other goodies.
If your team is small, you could also see if anyone else on your campus may want to purchase the Cricut with you…or better yet, if the school would be willing to make the purchase for the staff.
All in all, we have been super happy with our purchase. We have used the Cricut year after year to beautify our classroom and our campus. You definitely will not regret purchasing the Cricut for your classroom…only that there are not enough minutes in the day to complete all the projects you will think up to make your classroom amazing!
Happy Decorating!
