How to Create a Collaborative Classroom Environment Part 4
Be sure to check out the previous posts if you missed Parts 1, 2, and 3 on how to create a collaborative classroom.
The last tip I have for creating a collaborative classroom is to consider the group’s impact. It is always a helpful idea for group work to focus on capturing their attention, intellect, and curiosity. This comes from getting to know your students and what their passions are. Have students attempt to work out problems they care about in the news. Or have the group’s end product be authentic, like creating an awareness campaign or present to the school board or site principal using tools like Canva to make their work look professional.
All in all, leverage students’ strengths by creating meaningful group work activities to teach both academic and SEL skills necessary for the future job market, whatever that may look like in the next decade.
