Peloton Users Looking For More Strength Content: Try Hard Core on the Floor

Many people start off the year with ambitions of living a more healthy life. These ideas include going to bed at an earlier hour, eating better, and working out more often. Before the pandemic, I was a real gym junkie. I loved going to the gym and working out with others. I was motivated by being surrounded by my peers and working out together. All of that went away when the world shut down.

I found a new community when I purchased my Peloton Bike, and later my Peloton Tread. I had a coach back and a virtual community of peers working out alongside me. While my cardio game was on point, I was missing the weight lifting and strength classes my old gym classes offered. I knew that Peloton offered those classes, but I was floundering. I just took the classes willy nilly and hoped for the best. Insert Hard Core on the Floor.

A few years ago I stumbled upon a Facebook group called Hard CORE on The Floor (#hardCORE) created by Nicole Gonzalez. It took me a few weeks to figure it all out, but once I did, it completely changed the way I used the Peloton app. Using the strength platform through Peloton, Nicole Gonzalez creates a calendar of monthly classes that she shares freely with her members. Her private group has over four hundred thousand members, so you know she is doing something right.

How are the classes structured?

Gonzalez structures her classes like a strength split program. A workout split is simply a way of dividing your training sessions into different body regions. So, in the Hard Core workouts you will be working on different body regions each day. She also has rest days built into the week.

Each day you can expect to complete 40 minutes of work (or less). These workouts include:

10 minutes of core

10-20 minutes of a strength workout

10-20 minutes of a second strength workout

The daily strength workouts complement each other and build off each other. The great thing about these workouts is that Gonzalez provides choice. You can choose to complete one of the strength classes, or two, or all of them. Either way, you are moving your body and providing yourself some time for self care.

Bottom Line:

If you’re looking for a group of encouraging peers to bring back that gym class vibe to your at-home workouts, look no further. Her daily stack of classes will take the guess work out of your strength routine and will leave you feeling motivated with all of the high fives you will receive throughout your workout. Not on Facebook? That’s ok! She has her classes listed on Instagram as well.
