The Best Pens for Teacher Lesson Plan Books
There is nothing like cracking open a brand new lesson plan book and dreaming up the possibilities for the up and coming school year. One thing we love to do in late July/ early August is get our Band.o lesson plan book ready by marking all of the important dates listed on our instructional calendar. These days consist of half days, holidays, teacher work days, professional development days, and conference weeks.
We have tried out quite a few different types of pens in our teaching careers. Some are much better than others. Below is a list of our all time favorite pen brands that we love to use in our plan books and for writing in general.
Le Pen - With its ultra fine point and smudge proof ink, these pens are a perfect choice to use when writing in our planners. We love all the color choices!
Stabillo Point 88 Fineliner - These pens are such a dream to write with. We love how tiny we can write with these pens. They last forever and come in the most fun and vibrant colors. Whether taking notes at staff meetings, or modeling how to create doodle notes for our students, these are a great all purpose pen.
Uni-Ball Signo Gel 207 Retractable Pen - These pens are the work horses of our classroom. The colors are so vibrant, the ink glides over the page seamlessly, and we use them for pretty much everything in our classes. When we take conference notes, we use these pens. When we need to jot down a quick memo, it is this pen we reach for. We love the pink and purple colors most.
Paper Mate Liquid Flair Felt Pens - We know the cult following that the Paper Mate Flair Pens have in the teaching world. But, to be honest, they just are not for us. They bleed too easily on a page, and they just don’t allow for that nice, smooth gliding feel that we get from the liquid version. We have a stack of these purple pens in our teacher desks, and we L-O-V-E the vibrant color they leave on the page. These pens do bleed and sometimes smear, so we don’t usually use them for our lesson plan books. But they are a gorgeous purple color that works well for teacher notes and birthday cards.
Zebra Pen Mildliner Highlighter - These are our go-to highlighters for all things teacher related. We love using these in our teacher plan books as well as our bullet journals. The color choices are so fun. We also love that they have more than just the neon highlighter color choices to choose from.
